Morgan Hulquist is an emerging documentary artist based in Portland, Maine whose work explores latent place-based stories. Her previous work includes MEMORY, PURITY, and MORE about “the most copied girl in America,” Audrey Munson, whose nude body was reproduced in hundreds of beaux-arts statues – but whose living, breathing body was forgotten.
She is an Associate Producer at Multitude Films, an independent production company telling stories by and about historically excluded and underrepresented communities, where she has helped produce ten+ critically acclaimed documentary films. Her previous roles in the arts include Communications Coordinator at Chicken & Egg Pictures, a nonprofit organization supporting women and nonbinary artists and activists, as well as a freelance Archival Producer and Production Assistant.
Morgan’s film credits include Netflix Original POWER, which premiered at Sundance 2024; Oscar-shortlisted HOW WE GET FREE, now streaming on MAX; IDA Award-nominated series QUEER FUTURES; Sundance Official Selection IT’S ONLY LIFE AFTER ALL; and Emmy-winning Peacock Original LOWNDES COUNTY AND THE ROAD TO BLACK POWER, presented by Participant.
Originally from San Diego, she has studied video art at Hampshire College in Massachusetts and filmmaking at Brooklyn College, DCTV, and BRIC in New York.
Now residing in Maine, Morgan spends her free time in the sacred place that is its shoreline. She is currently directing the short film INVADERS, a poetic glimpse into the motley group of citizen scientists who spend their free time scouring Maine’s coastline for marine invasive species.
